Key Opinion Leader with 30+ years of experience. A postgraduate from Lotus College of Optometry and Fellow of IACLE. He was awarded the Fellowship of Excellence in 2020 and teaches at Sankara College of Optometry.

Lakshmi Shinde

Chief Optometrist

Myopia Consultant

Educator

Holds an MSc in Optometry from UNSW, Australia. A clinical author and educator, she is a fellow of IACLE, BCLA, and AAO. She received the FIACLE Lifetime award in 2023 and is a faculty member at Sankara College of Optometry.

4 Generations of quality eye care service delivery

1927

City Market

Mr. Govind Rao Shinde arrived in Bangalore with a trial set and a handful of spectacle frames, establishing his opticianary alongside a watch repair shop (as was the tradition).

He established “GS Shinde & Sons” in the old city market complex in 1927, solidifying the enduring legacy of the “Shinde” name in eye care.

1976

Gandhi Nagar

Mr. Devoji Rao Shinde, after formal training at Minto Hospital where he earned his “Diploma in Optometry,” established “Shinde Opticians” in 1976, presently at Gandhinagar, Bangalore.

Quality of service and accuracy of refraction were known at “Shinde Opticians” and hence made it famous among travellers.

Currently under the third generation of Mr. Arun Shinde, an alumnus of Minto Hospital.

1993, 1998

New BEL Road, R T Nagar

Mr. Ajay Shinde, a 1991 graduate of the esteemed Elite School of Optometry, a unit of Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, established “Shinde Eye Care Centre” at New BEL Road, Bangalore in 1993.

“Shinde Vision Care” was started by Mr. Arvind Shinde in 1998 at R T Nagar, Bangalore.

Ms. Lakshmi Shinde joined him in 2000. He went on and completed his post-graduation from Lotus College of Optometry in 2013.

2022

Yelahanka

Mr. Ram Shinde, the fourth generation, now manages an additional “Shinde” family branch — “Shinde Eye Care” in Yelahanka New Town.
